Details:As part of Americana 1 guitarist Joe Carter and vocalist Isabella Mendes will perform Brazilian Jazz at the Windsor Art Center on Sunday, November 4 at 3 PM at the Windsor Art Center, Windsor, CT . Joe Carter started guitar studies at an early age, eventually focusing on Jazz. While earning B.A. and M.A. degrees in Jazz Performance and starting his Jazz Ph.D. studies at New York University he studied privately with guitarists Sal Salvador, John Scofield, Allan Hanlon, saxophonist Lee Konitz and pianist Don Friedman. After several performance and teaching trips to Brazil his current specialty is Brazilian Jazz, combining Straightahead and Bebop styles of Jazz with Samba, Bossa Nova and Northeast styles of jazz.
Brazilian music singer, songwriter, composer, pianist, and educator Isabella Mendes, is quickly becoming one of New Haven and Hartford County’s top Brazilian, jazz, pop, entertainers in the industry. Isabella has earned an impressive list of accomplishments well beyond her years. Her sound is an eclectic mix of American Jazz Standards, authentic Bossa Nova, Brazilian jazz, with a hint of pop in her original songs.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for art center members at the door.
Americana 1 is made possible through a grant from the CT Office of the Arts to Rough Edges Art Production with additional support from the Windsor Art Center
