Northwest Park offers excellent week-long nature programs for young campers that concentrate on science, farm and nature learning while enjoying the outdoors. Your child will be engaged in hands-on experiences, activities, games, hikes, observations, projects, stories and experiments. Crafts are incorporated into the camp experience. You may register your child for multiple weeks of camp. Extended camp hours are available. Camps are based on the grade your child will be entering in the fall. Northwest Park’s Summer Camp staff consists of qualified individuals interested in working with children. Each staff member is certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR.

Refund Policy - If you cancel registration more than 30 days in advance of the session start date, you will receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee. Cancellation 15-30 days before the session start date will receive a 50% refund. Cancellation less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp session will receive no refund.

Pre-Kindergarten - 9:00 AM to noon.
(Pre-Kindergarten age campers must be at least 3 by the first day of camp, and potty trained.) $110.00 (Windsor resident), $120.00 (non-resident).

July 2 to July 6: To the Moon and Back: Let’s howl at the moon like a coyote, fly like an owl, look at the night sky during the day in our STARLAB planetarium, and other action packed activities. No camp on Wednesday, July 4. Pro-rated: $90.00 Windsor resident, $100.00 non-resident.

July 9 to July 13: Dinosaurs: Get ready for a dino-mite time as we walk like the dinosaurs, dig for dinosaur bones and play dino-games.

July 23 to July 27: Farm Frenzy: Come out and be a farmer for the week. Help feed the animals, play farm games, make farm treats and make new friends.

Kindergarten – 1st Grade - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
$175.00 (Windsor resident), $185.00 (non-resident)

June 25 to June 29: Forest Explorers: Wander our woodlands and discover creatures and plants of all sizes. Listen closely to hear owls calling, hike through the wetland forest and search under logs for salamanders.

July 2 to July 6: Nighttime Discoveries: Enjoy the night sky during the day in our STARLAB planetarium. Eat like astronauts, play space games, and learn about wild nocturnal animals like the barred owl and the little brown bat. No camp on Wednesday, July 4. Pro-rated: $140.00 Windsor resident; $150.00 non-resident.

July 9 to July 13: Dig It Kids: It’s a week full of prehistoric activities! This week we will go digging for dinosaur bones, hike to the Triassic trail and enjoy a special field trip to Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill on Friday.

July 16 to July 20: Farm Friends: Summer is a busy time on the farm! Visit our animal barn friends, learn the difference between chicken and duck eggs, discover how we turn sheep’s fleece into fiber and make our animal friends some yummy treats.

July 23 to July 27: Nature Detective: Nature can be mysterious and fascinating. We will use various tools to find clues that will help campers learn about the creatures at Northwest Park. From looking for tracks in the dirt to using magnifying glasses to examine found objects, making discoveries will be fun and educational.

July 30 to August 3: Sense-ational Naturalists: Come out and explore the woods and fields using all of your five senses. Feel the breeze, smell the flowers, hear the birds, taste some Northwest Park honey and see the beautiful colors of the garden.

August 6 to August 10: Under the Sea: Your child will be splashing around in a week of ocean themed fun. We will incorporate sea creatures and water activities each day. Your mermaid or merman will have a tidal wave of fun.

2nd-to 3rd Grade - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
$175.00 (Windsor resident), $185.00 (non-resident)

June 25 to June 29: Habitat Detectives: Investigate the different habitats of Northwest Park. Take a net to the field, observe the beaver pond, and discover the forest. Get out, examine, and explore the value of having different habitats and ways we can help protect them.

July 2 to July 6: Nocturnal Wonders: This week we will learn about some of the nocturnal animals that call Northwest Park home. From the Little Brown Bat to the Great Horned Owl. Also enjoy observing the night sky in our STARLAB planetarium. No camp on Wednesday, July 4. Pro-rated: $140.00 Windsor resident; $150.00 non-resident.

July 9 to July 13: DINO-mite: Can’t get enough of prehistoric creatures? You will become a paleontologist in a week as we explore the world of dinosaurs. Includes an off-site trip to Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill on Friday.

July 16 to July 20: Farmhands: Find out what it’s like to be a farmer for a week! Pick some vegetables, turn sheep’s fleece into fiber, and search for eggs. Learn while we tend the garden and care for the barnyard animals that live at Northwest Park.

July 23 to July27: Wilderness Explorer: Let’s go on an adventure! Explore Northwest Park like never before. Learn the keys to survival while building shelters, cooking over fire, hiking, and enjoying wilderness games and activities.

July 30 to August 3: Animal Olympics: Run as fast as a cheetah! Jump higher than a bullfrog! Discover the animal kingdom and learn about their gold medal adaptations.

Aug 6 to August 10: Aquanauts: Your camper will be surrounded by aquatic joy. Each day will include wetland discoveries, water games, and experiments. Sponge Bob hasn’t seen this much water.

4th to 5th Grade - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

June 25 to 29: Walk on the Wild Side: Campers will explore the wild wonders of Northwest Park. Put your wilderness skills to the test! We will hone our naturalist's skills of observation, description and exploration. This week includes two field trips to unique areas of Connecticut.

July 2- to July 6: Animals of the Night: Are you active at night? Come out and learn about creatures that are, and look for clues of their existence here at Northwest Park. Get a glimpse of the night sky in our STARLAB planetarium. No camp on Wednesday, July 4. Pro-rated: $190.00 Windsor resident; $19.00 non-resident.

July 9 to July 13: Hunger Games: The Hunger Games, but without the violence. Send your tributes to compete and see who will survive as the victor of daily competitions. As they go through training week, campers will learn survival skills, shelter making and team work when they join in the fun of the annual Northwest Park Hunger Games. The week will culminate with an overnight camping adventure at Northwest Park on Thursday, July 12.

July 16 to July 20: Spectacular State Parks: Take off-site trips to extraordinary Connecticut State Parks Tuesday through Friday. Hike along the blue blazed forest trails, search for waterfalls, and look for signs of wildlife while we explore many unique areas of Connecticut.

July 23 to July 27: Outdoor Adventurers: Campers will focus on specific outdoor skills including outdoor cooking, survival skills, and orienteering. This week includes an off-site fishing trip Tuesday. The week will culminate with an overnight camping adventure at Northwest Park on Thursday, July 26.

July 30 to August 3: Nature Gone Wild: There are many ways to get wild at Northwest Park. Search for amphibians, go bugging in the fields and play games, all while learning about the animal kingdom through adventure and survival.

August 6 to August 10: Watery World: The heat is on, and so are the refreshing water week activities as nature camp rolls into August. Campers will be playing with water and learning the different ways water is a crucial part of our natural world. Come prepared to get wet every day this week!

6th to 8th Grade - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
$230.00 (Windsor resident) $240.00 (non-resident).

June 25 to June 29: Adventure Quest: Teams will explore the trails for wildlife clues, identify beneficial plants and try to be the first to complete the high tech treasure hunt. This week promises to be full of energy and fun while we practice our nature skills together.

July 2 to July 6: Outdoor Challenge: This week will be filled with a variety of team and individual challenges. Spend a day on the challenge course, play a game of disk golf, learn and apply other outdoor skills. No camp on Wednesday, July 4. Pro-rated: $185.00 Windsor resident; $195.00 non-resident.

July 9 to July 13: Super State Parks: This week we will be traveling to several New England State Parks. Enjoy hiking at Sleeping Giant, splash around in Long Island Sound and feel the cooling sprays of a waterfall.

July 16 to July 20: Survive It! During this week, learn the skills necessary to survive in an outdoor setting. Build a fire, identify useful plants, and build a shelter suitable for an overnight stay. The week will culminate with an overnight camping adventure at Northwest Park on Thursday, July 19.

July 23 to July 27: Trailblazers: This week, join in on an adventure to hike along a section of the Appalachian Trail! Campers will learn proper packing techniques, outdoor cooking and how to set up a tent. We will be overnight backcountry camping on Wednesday, July 25 to Friday, July 27.

July 30 to August 3: Monadnock Mania: Join in on an adventurous hike up Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire. Participants will prepare themselves for their hike to a summit of 3,165 feet, a rewarding and exciting experience. We will be camping within the State Park in Jaffrey, New Hampshire from Wednesday, August 1 to Friday, August 3.

Aug 6 to August 10: Aquatic Adventures: Join us for the last week of summer camp. Campers will explore the different waterways across Connecticut. Canoe the Farmington River, enjoy some cooling sprays of a waterfall, and take a journey to the shore.
