Girls in Stride is a new running program for girls ages 6 to 14 offered by Windsor Recreation and is held each Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM through May 16 at the L.P. Wilson Community Center. Girls in Stride is a non-competitive training program designed for all levels of runners. The program is designed to introduce girls to the sport of running, help them gain confidence, build self-esteem, and lead them to a path of health and fitness. The program focuses on using games and drills that make running fun, while also improving athletic performance for those who play other sports. As part of the program, the girls will be exposed to goal setting, journaling of training, nutrition, and mental preparation. This fun and empowering training program will prepare the girls for the Shad Derby 5K Road Race in May. The program includes a t-shirt and training journal. For more information, go to girlsinstride.com. Cost is $75.00. 860-285-1990.
