Where can you get great chili, feel the community spirit, and be environmentally friendly all at the same time? At the Chili Challenge!
The Windsor Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce that its annual Chili Challenge is again "green" this year! "In 2014 we found cups and spoons made out of cane sugar instead of the usual styrofoam," said Executive Director at the time, Jane Garibay. The cups and utensils are fully bio-degradable.
"We go through about 10,000 chili cups and wanted to find a solution to reduce waste this year," says Kathy Kopacz, Committee Chair.
There will also be recycling containers all around the town green during this co-operative highly anticipated event. There are lots of water bottles and soda cans used and they can all be recycled easily now right on the green.
The Chili Challenge hosts creative cooks from local businesses and civic groups who serve their chili on the town green every autumn in Windsor. The recipes vary widely. Some are spicy, some are tame.
"There is always plenty of great tasting chili, great costumes (each booth has a theme) and plenty of family fun at this popular event," said Kopacz, "We are thrilled that many cooks come back year after year with new recipes."
